OVERVIEW
- A mere 20 minutes north
of Atlanta, Roswell is a
bedroom community on the
banks of the scenic Chattahoochee
River. Its rich history includes
original Cherokee inhabitants,
gold rush settlers,
and ante bellum homes, and
provides interesting attractions
for the visitor. Hiking and
biking trails and playgrounds
can be found along the scenic
shores of the Chattahoochee
River, and the river itself
is a great place for canoeing,
rafting, and trout fishing.

Authority -MARTA -
the city of Atlanta has
a fairly extensive subway
system that is, for the
most part, contained
within the I-285 loop
that surrounds the city.
From the rail stations,
there are also several
MARTA shuttle buses that
travel to attractions
such as Lakewood Amphitheater,
Six Flags and the Braves
games. Parking is free
in all MARTA rail station
parking lots and there
are over 22,000 parking
spaces at the rail stations.

ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
- Georgia Ensemble
Theatre -
the Georgia Ensemble
Theatre is North Fulton's
only professional theatre
company, and presents a season
of classics mixed with newer
comedies, dramas and musicals.

- Roswell Arts Center
West - dedicated
to the ceramic arts,
the Roswell Arts Center
West is
located in the center
of a serene 147-acre
park and is outfitted
with specialized equipment,
including a wheel throwing
studio, a handbuilding
and a sculpture studio,
2 kiln rooms housing
electric kilns, an outdoor
firing area for raku,
pit firing and a gas
kiln, 3 glaze rooms,
a common room, a meeting
room, and a reception
and retail space. Located
at 1355 Woodstock Rd.
- Roswell Cultural
Arts Center -
The Roswell Cultural Arts
Center is used as a venue
for entertainment ranging
from theatrical, musical,
and dance performances
to pageants, celebrations,
special events, and exhibits.

Visual Arts Center -
The Roswell Visual Arts
Center is a state of
the arts facility owned
and run by the city,
surrounded by 37 acres
of park. There are traveling
exhibits as well as classroom
studios, darkrooms, a
ceramic studio, galleries
and sculpture gardens
for the artistic education
of Roswell's citizens.

ATTRACTIONS
- Historic
Roswell Tours -
the Roswell Historical
Society provides guided walking
tours o the Historic District
at 10:00am Wednesday and
1:00pm Saturday. All tours
depart at the Visitors Center
on Roswell Square and last
one hour. Audio tour rentals
are also available seven
days a week.
RECREATION AND SPORTS
- Chattahoochee
River National Recreation
Area - the
Chattahoochee River National
Recreation Area has 50
miles of hiking trails,
canoe and raft rentals
and streams stocked with
trout. Horseback riding,
biking, swimming and
guided fishing tours
are also available. Open
dawn until dusk, 365
days a year. Entrance
at the Island Ford Visitor
Center at 1978 Island
Ford Parkway, Atlanta,

Nature Center -
The Chattahoochee Nature
Center is a 127-acre facility
with canoe trips in the spring,
summer and fall, picnic rentals,
nature programs and summer
camp for kids. Open 9:00am
- 5:00pm, Monday-Saturday
and noon - 5:00pm, Sunday.
Located at 9135 Willeo Rd.,
Roswell, GA.
- Vickery Creek Park -
Vickery Creek Park This park
has an interpretive walk
highlighting the old mill
ruins of Roswell and allows
visitors to get close to
Vickery Creek and its dam.
Located across Vickery Creek
from the Chattahoochee
River National Recreation
Area, just off Sloan St.
- Roswell
River Walk - the
7-mile Roswell River Walk follows
the Chattahoochee River through
the city and will have multi-use
trails, pedestrian spurs,
playground and picnic areas,
boat ramps, and fishing areas.
